Tucson's monsoon season brings strong winds, sudden heavy rain, dust, and sometimes hail. After a storm, damage can be hard to see from the ground.
What to do after a storm
- Stay off the roof. Look from the ground for missing tiles, lifted shingles, torn coating, or debris.
- Check ceilings and the attic for new stains or drips.
- Take dated photos of damage inside and out.
- Clear what you safely can from ground level, and keep drains and downspouts in mind for the next storm.
- If you plan to file an insurance claim, contact your insurer and keep records of any temporary repairs.
Send the form or call. Your request may be shared with an independent roofer who can inspect and give you a repair estimate. We do not handle insurance claims.
Questions
Will insurance pay for monsoon roof damage?
That depends on your policy and the cause of damage. Ask your insurance company directly.
Should I tarp the roof myself?
Only if you can do it safely from the ground or a secure position. A wet roof is slippery; a contractor can do temporary protection.
